Recycled Tehran | Experimental

Maryam Muliaee

Irão – 2016

In the piece, I reworked the video footage my family recorded and sent to me from the place I could not visit. Recycling the video through a printer and a scanner respectively, I kept re-materializing the video until the place literally and metaphorically went absent due to the loss that happened by its bearer media. However, through erasure, a new place is mapped within the act of transferring between digital-analog: a new place that lets the viewers invest their memories in and re-imagine/remember it later.
